Fabric Report- Week 21

Can you believe it.  It's been over 4 weeks since I've posted ... did anyone miss me?  Probably not because you may have been as busy as me.  At least one of my friends told me he missed seeing me on the blog.  Thanks Kevin for giving me a kick in the behind to get back to business.

I promised an update of whether or not I was able to resist buying fabric in Paducah.   Well, let's see....I definitely did not come home empty handed.  it was a great show as usual and the weather was perfect this year.  I didn't think it was a crowded as in the past, but I was there later in the week this year.

Here are some of the things I brought home with me - thread (a new kind - Iris all cotton), a V-block ruler, yarns (the knit shop was closing so the prices were great) ,a 17" swivel cutting mat, a 72" square portable design wall, and more fun things to keep me busy.  But do you see any fabric??  Nope... I was such a good girl -- no fabric to add to my stash this time.

So here's where I stand since my last fabric report way back in April.

Fabric Report -Week #21
Fabric Added - O
Fabric Used since 4/19 - 7.5 yds (mostly pillowcases and one border)
Fabric Added YTD - O
Fabric Used YTD -  45.5 yds
Net used in 2015 - 45.5 yds

Stash Report - Week 19 May 11, 2014

Let me wish all the mothers out there in Blogland a Happy Mother's Day.  Where would we be without our dear mothers and all the love they have given us through the years.  I no longer have my mother to share my days and thoughts with, but I am reminded of her so many times throughout the week by things that we did together, our favorite foods we enjoyed sharing and even in the grocery store I will hear someone say something that was a favorite expression of my mother's too.  I miss her a lot, but know she's watching me and smiling at some of the things I say and do, which I'm sure are reminiscent of her.  I was very blessed to have a wonderful mother and hope you all have a wonderful day.

It's been a quite a while since I've posted my stash report.  Mostly it was because there was no activity in my fabric.  I was doing more knitting. But after Paducah and several sales at local quilt shops, I have new stash.  Here's some of what came home from AQS.

The black and whites are for the Soul Searching blocks (isn't the computer smiley faces fabric the cutest thing), the blue/white/black stripes was to be for Snow Friends, but it isn't the right color blue, so it will be added to my shelves for future  use.

The green and blue variegated strips was on sale, and you just never know when it might come in handy, right?  The pastel plaid MIGHT work on a baby quilt, not sure. This is however a STASH report, so it's future stash.

The baseball pieces are for a baby quilt in the planning stages.  I'm looking for anything with baseball motifs on it.

So the bad news is that my Stash took a bit of a hit.  There were several more pieces added that were not in the picture that were bought for various ongoing projects.

Fabric Added since last reported -  13.5 yards
Fabric Added YTD - 15.75 yds
Fabric Used since last report - 0
Fabric Used YTD - 16.28 yds
Net Used/in 2014 -  .53 - oh this is close to being in the red. I've got to get busy.

I'm still alive and kicking.

I can't believe it's been over two weeks since I've posted.  It doesn't seem like it's been that long, really.  First I went on our annual Greater St. Louis Shop Hop. It is held over a 4 day period because the shops are in Missouri and Illinois. I think we drove about 350 total to do them all.  I took 2 days to complete all the shops.  It was lots of fun, but  I didn't win any of the prizes. Some fabric came home with me though.
Then I attended an all day long arm meeting with award winning quilter Linda Mae Diny of Calico Kitten.  She taught from her book "Circular Quilting" which shows ways to use circle templates. It is amazing how many different designs can be made from the simple circle template. The afternoon class covered many different rulers and border treatments.  I learned a lot, now to find time to practice what I learned.

The other activity that has kept my nose to the grindstone is our Quilts of Valor goal of 100 quilts by the end of June.   As I mentioned in an earlier, we are still working on getting 100 quilts ready by the end of June or early July for some returning Missouri troops.  I've been doing a lot of quilting plus making and sewing on bindings.   In addition to the pictures on the earlier post, here are a few more quilt tops that came in.

Now that I can see we are doing great in the quilt drive -- we have 70 ready to go, and two months left to get to 100, I'm heading to Paducah next week.  I'll be there for 4 days this year.  Anyone else going?

Stash Report - Week 18 and More

I was in Paducah  for the AQS show this past week; and believe it or not, I was able to resist adding to my stash. In fact the only fabric I brought home with me was the half package of charm squares that AQS gave as a gift for renewing my membership.  Not sure what that equates to, but I'm not going to counting it. My totals are the same as last week. Fabric Added -0; Fabric Used -0; YTD Added - 15 yds, YTD Used - 20.338 yds.

Here are a few of the items that came home with me. The purse pattern uses a chenille technique and I bought the teal leather handles because they were on the sample they had and it really looked good on theirs. I guess that will limit my fabric choices, but I like most colors that will go with dark teals. They had so many cute designs I wanted one of each.  The eReader Wristlet pattern was a birthday gift from my friend who went with me.  I usually celebrate my birthday every year in Paducah since it falls during the show.  This works out nicely for me and also for my DH because he gives me $$ and says get what you want!
Have any of you seen the gal that demos how to mend holes or tears and cuts in all kinds of fabric?  Well every year I watch her and think, maybe I should get some of her 007 bonding agent.  You just never know when you might need it, right?  Then I talk myself out of it -- year after year.  Well, I gave in this year.  They even threw in some extra products to try.  What a deal!  I hope I don't need to use it too often, but I have a lifetime supply if anyone needs to mend a small hole accidentally cut or tore while quilting or appliqueing.
