I am off to a good start on my fabric management goals for 2015. I made 8 pillowcases from wild fabric that came to me as a surprise. Oh, I bought it, no surprise there, but didn't check closely what I was getting. The price was right and home it came with me, thinking this would be good for a backing or two on a wild and crazy quilt or a scrap quilt that needed a little punch. It was in a plastic bag and I could see the colors, but I didn't take it out to inspect it better. What a surprise I got later. I am now the proud owner of 40+ yards of flame orange/red/yellow with a black scroll design pre-cut into 27" lengths. Hello pillowcases. It will be a challenge to come up with enough different fabrics for the cuffs to make sewing them fun, but here are my first ones for the year.
That floral one is thrown in there to rest your eyes. Not really, it is one of two for a gift. I needed a break from all the orange and black.

That's kinda funny about the flame fabric! It will make good gifts for Chinese New Year though, right? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine sewing on all that orange. You did a really creative job with the cuffs. Does it go well with your décor or will you be donating a lot of pillowcases this year?
ReplyDeleteWow! 40+ yards. That is crazy! I think you can put just about any bright color with it and it will look great.
ReplyDeleteThose pillowcases are so great. I love the bright bold colors.
ReplyDeleteLook at you!! Way to post such positive numbers for the first week!!! :)
ReplyDeleteoooooooooooOOOOOOOooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I LOVE that fabric! You should design a quilt around it and use the rest for that!!!!! Back to Grand Illusion now!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Dar! You inspire me to use some fabric (I actually added 9 yards this week).
ReplyDeleteOh Dar, What a fabric surprise!! LOL Like the pillowcases.Who is getting them?
ReplyDeleteGreat numbers to start the year.
Hugs
Holy dragon girlfriend!!!! Or is that a Phoenix? Whatever it is, it sure is fiery :) You won't be able to say your stitching was boring this year LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, that's a big stash dog! Each one of those cases will be loved, separately! For the rest... Polynesian quilt? Curtains for a teen boy's room? Here's to a great year!
ReplyDeleteYour pillowcases are indeed elegant! Wonderful coordination of the cuffs!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun pillowcases. It would take just the right quilt for you to use that as a back. You found a great way to get those out of the stash.
ReplyDeleteHow irritating to have it pre-cut, when you are expecting yardage. At least you can use it somehow.
