When Stack 'n Whack quilts were in vogue I jumped on the bandwagan and bought some fabrics that would lend themselves to this technique. Well, I got ahead of myself and didn't get them all finished. This fabric was bright tropical fish and it made great blocks when putting them in a circle. My problem was I couldn't decide what background to put them against except black. I wanted to make it for a small child and thought maybe black wasn't the right overall color for a bright cheery look. What color background would you use to put these together? Here's 4 of the blocks. There are 8 total and they are all bright like these.
The first two colors that come to mind are hot pink and white. Whatever you choose, these are fun blocks!

Dar, how about a lime green or yellow?
ReplyDeleteHow about a light gray?
ReplyDeleteI would look for a white with little fish or something on it. They sure are pretty.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I'm going to audition all the colors suggested (if I have them in my stash). Thanks for your input.
DeleteTurquoise like the ocean. Yellow would be nice as well.
DeleteLove the blocks! SNW is one of my favorite techniques - as for a background yellow is my go to color, but lime would look good too - just my 2 cents worth!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I was thinking yellow too. Have to see if I have the right tone of yellow. Don't want to over power these little guys, or require the recipent to have to wear sunglasses when using the quilt. Thanks for your suggestions.
DeleteWhat about a bright yellow??? I like those blocks
