On the Needles - Oct. 21

This week there are two starts on my sock needles.  The first are the short socks that I started with worsted yarn and my first using the Magic Loop method.  I finished one sock the first week and am working on the second one.  I love how fast they are progressing with the little time I have devoted to them.  I will probably use these as my sleep socks when the snow and freezing temperatures hit us this winter.  Can't wait to try them out and see how warm my toes will be. lol

But, I just couldn't help myself, I HAD to cast on another pair using my favorite dpns. These are going to be another pair of Scrappy Frankensocks with the bag of scraps Carol gave me.  It's like doing a mystery quilt, you don't know exactly how it's going to turn out until after you add the next small ball of beautiful yarn and knit a few rounds to watch the design come to life.  Fun, fun.

What's on your needles this cool, brisk Fall morning?

Linking up with Judy's OTN.

  1. Oh my....your short sock looks so warm and toasty! What size needle are you using with the worsted yarn?

  3. It's so neat how you just pick up your needles and knit socks! I mean... I'd have to spend days reading a pattern, and then very likely have to figure out how to pick up dropped stitches. You make it seem so easy. I'm happy that you will have warm socks for cold toes. Hope you don't need them too soon!

  4. Glad you are still enjoying the Frankensock idea...I love the process and the element of surprise. Ok - which do you like better DPNS or Magic Loop? When I first learned to knit socks it was on DPN and while I can do it I didn't like it. I knit one socks and never knit a mate for it. The next thing that was big was knitting socks on 2 circulars. I liked that a lot. And then Magic Loop came along... it is the ONLY way I knit socks now. LOVE IT!!! My favorite needles are Hiya Hiya's 2.75mm. I have a bunch of these so I can have multiple socks going at the same time. Have a great weekend!

  5. Cute socklettes! Is it difficult to use the Magic Loop method? Love your Frankensocks; this pair should be very pretty. How do you join the yarns?

  6. I've got the booklet from the yarn shop, but I've never mastered the whole Magic Loop thing. I'm still working on those same Fabel socks I started back in August.
