Fabric Report - March 6, 2016

It's been a few weeks since reporting Stash, as I was busy quilting and binding my Rainbow Soul Searching quilt and working on a mystery quilt.  When I got ready to sew on the previously cut and made binding for this quilt, I realized that I didn't like the way it looked. Remember this? It looks ok here, but not when it was put on the quilt.
1st binding

So you know what that means, right? Back to the stash to find something else.  Luckily there was enough of the darker black and white to make another binding.  I am counting the new binding as stash used too.

Hanging sleeve and 2nd binding choice

The other binding will get used later and I won't re-count that one.

Here's a peek at the new binding and quilting. The quilting is not perfect because I did it on my domestic Bernina but I could not find my quilting tool to help with the spacing of the lines on the big spiral quilting.  However, it is finished and it's not destined for any major shows like Paducah or Houston so I'm happy with the quilting.

On another note, I received another Quilt of Valor top from Mary C one of my friends.  She also provided the backing, binding and presentation pillowcase to match.  I think this is one of the prettiest patterns and the perfect size for our QOVs.  Thanks so much Mary for all your time and effort piecing this and donating it to our veterans.  We will hand quilt it soon.

Used stash since the first week in February that can be counted now.

  1. No added fabric this year! Good for you :) The quilting on your rainbow quilt looks amazing, I can never keep the distance between straight lines the same. So for me, it's always safer to go with a loopier/disorganized quilting pattern :-)

  2. We are most critical of our own work. You see the flaws while I see nothing but beauty! That is a beautiful Quilt of Valor.

  7. Oh Dar! That spiral quilting looks wonderful! I would never have guessed that you couldn't locate your walking foot guide to use with this. I presume you eye-balled it, and that works just as precisely (I think). I love the look of spiral quilting. Seems like you're doing a great job of using up and not buying more. Keep up the good work!
