Last Stash Report for 2013

Well, here it is at the end of the year and I'm a little short of my goals!  So what's new? I used almost exactly what I added, but that was not my original plan.  My goal for 2014 will be to use twice as much as this year. Or use double of what I add, either would be reducing the stash, right?  I'm running out of room to hide store it, so it has to happen sooner rather than later.

Added this week - 1 FQ (for Celtic Solstice blues)
Added YTD - 95.39 yds
Used this week - 1 yd - for binding .
Used YTD - 98.36 yds
Net Used from stash in 2013 - 2.97 yds. Almost 3 yds.

Now,would you look at all that extra space on my fabric shelves!  :)  NOT

I WILL reduce my stash in 2014 and only add where absolutely necessary.  In fact, I'd love to get through the whole year with just using stash. Wouldn't that be amazing?  I'm trying the power of positive thinking to see if it helps. lol   Keep watching this report in the coming year to see if it works.

Check out Patchwork Times and see how others ended their year of stashbusting.  There are some really champion stashbusters in this group.

Thank you, my blogger friends, for all the encouragement and support you've given me during the year. I love getting comments and look forward to hearing from you on any subject.  It has made a difference in all my projects, whether they be quilting, knitting, cooking, or life lessons and I so appreciate the time you've taken to comment on my ramblings.  Soon I'll be celebrating my 2 year blogaversary (Jan. 2). and it seems as if it were only last month.  Maybe a giveaway is in order. This means I'll need to learn another blogger skill - Mr. Random Man.  I've learned so much already, thanks to many of you, but still have much to learn. I still can't remember how to put things on the side bar correctly and some linking and posting pictures don't always work right the first time.  Maybe with more practice these will be easier in 2014.

Here's hoping your Christmas holidays were wonderful and that 2014 will find you healthy, happy and prosperous.  Please be safe on New Year's Eve and I look forward to talking with you soon.

  1. Dar, it does seem like the time speeds by. I too have enjoyed the many blog comments, many of which were from you. You sure have set your goals high for 2014! Good luck, Sandi

  2. Dar - we appreciate you sharing your life with us! Finding a place for yards and yards of fabric is tough, no matter how much gets used. Good luck with your "stash only" goal for 2014.
    Happy New Year

  3. You did better than I did, Dar! I added 9.5 yards. My goal was to use more than I added. I don't think I can go a whole year without buying fabric. Three months, maybe.

  8. Oh my! You can't set such unrealistic goals for yourself, Dar. Can you really go a year without buying fabric? But what about the lovely Terra Australias fabric, by Emma Jansen, that's coming to the US soon? We must BE REAL! :-) But your goal is admirable. I'll try not to contribute to your downfall. Ha! Thanks for your new years wishes. I also wish you a 2014 filled with sewing, quilting, and good health - something I've learned that can't be taken for granted. Blessings.

  9. You may not have reached your goals, but even reducing the stash by almost 3 yards is pretty impressive to those of us who can't seem to even get to that point.

Have a very Happy New Year.

  11. My goal last year was not to add to the stash and I did pretty good until September then I done lost my mind! New projects came to mind and there were some great sales so I fell off the wagon. I will have to try again this year, try not to buy, and keep track of what I use. Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. I'm with you on this stash busting adventure for 2014! I too am running out of room and my fabric has simply gotten out of control. I haven't added anything since September, but I haven't sewn since then either so I'm not off to a very good start. I am impressed that you used over 98 yards last year! Well done!
